Diode Laser Technology

There is very little room for error when you are performing an important dental procedure; while mistakes can be forgiven in some professions, dentists typically do not have the luxury of making them.

Diode Laser Technology

To minimize the possibility of something going wrong and to ensure the work we do greatly exceeds our patients’ expectations, the staff at Pakerhill Dental often rely on laser technology to cut and shape tissue.

The Diode Laser is one of the most helpful tools in our dental equipment arsenal; the power of technology truly is amazing, especially when put to good use. This device emits a concentrated beam of light that works wonders on cutting through soft tissue.

Gum contouring is one cosmetic procedure that requires complete accuracy, as even the slightest cutting error can result in an uneven gum line for the patient. Given their high rate power, Diode Lasers do more than just cut tissue; they simultaneously coagulate and vaporise it as well. By sealing blood and lymphatic vessels contained beneath the gum line, these lasers significantly speed up the healing and recovery process. Post-operative swelling, infections, and tissue scarring are now a non-issue thanks to this technology.

Laser-assisted new attachment procedure (LANAP) is a procedure that was borne out of Diode Laser technology; re-attaching flaps of periodontal tissue used to be quite difficult and time-consuming for dentists. Not anymore; infected epithelium tissue can be quickly scaled and re-sealed with the aid of these machines, not to mention the thorough cleaning of infected root canals for therapy treatments.

Scalpels and manual scrapers require slow, steady hands, which is why most of these procedures used to take multiple sessions to complete. The “in and out” operations of today are credited in large part to the technology used by dentists like those at Pakerhill Dental. Our patients appreciate this fact, and tend to be more comfortable knowing they are being treated with state of the art dental equipment.

As said, the benefits of Diode Lasers run the gamut from decreased discomfort, increased recovery, more cost-effective operations (due to less time on the table), and overall more satisfying and healthy smiles. The word LASER is an acronym that stands for Laser Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

It should be noted that the amount of radiation administered by Diode Lasers is extremely small; just enough to facilitate the tissue cutting and bonding process. As this technology evolves and increasingly advanced tools become available to dentists, the better off we and our patients will be. Thankfully, our team here at Pakerhill Dental have always been ahead of the dental technology curve, which is why we’re able to bring these advancements in equipment to you faster than most other dental experts.
